The Smiddy Bunkhouse

We at The Smiddy Bunkhouse are offering holiday accommodation for families of all sizes, groups of friends, clubs, couples and individuals in the Scottish Highlands near Fort William. We have available self-contained apartments: Farriers, Forge & Anvil, plus The Smiddy Bunkhouse & Blacksmiths Hostel. We are ideally situated near the base of Ben Nevis for short breaks and holidays.

This is a great holiday destination for independent outdoor enthusiasts – all year round – or for just chilling out! Nearby local attractions include walking in our fantastic glens and forests local & steam trains running from our doorstep (‘The Harry Potter’ & Jacobite train) quiet roads to explore the Highlands by car, cycle or motor bike accessible mountain bike trails boat trips fishing from the nearby pier golf, gondola rides to access our ski area at Nevis Range ski-ing & snow boarding at Nevis Range & Glencoe in winter an excellent local museum & nearby geological display The Lochaber Geopark ten pin bowling at the Nevis Centre. What’s not to like!

We opened in 1990, for those who wish to stay and explore the surrounding west coast of Scotland or to take part in our adventure activities, with our unique blend of landscape and a huge variety of outdoor activities for all levels – and not to mention the wildlife! The Snowgoose Mountain Centre offers guiding tours, courses and adventure activity days such as: canoeing, river & sea kayaking, sailing as well as winter and summer walking and climbing with our highly experienced mountain & paddle sports instructor.

The Smiddy Bunkhouse & Blacksmiths Hostel offers excellent holiday hostel and bunkhouse accommodation which is ideal for a cost effective budget and for those touring around Scotland and doing outdoor activities. They sleep up to 10 to 14 people respectively and they are fully self-catered with showers & toilets.

The Snowgoose Apartments are first floor level, self contained accommodation within our compact complex. The apartments are ideal for couples or extended families for short breaks or longer holidays at all times of the year. They sleep 2 to 7 people.
